Chinmayee Balachandra, MPH

Research Assistant

Chinmayee Balachandra is a research assistant on the Black Birthing Futures project. She has completed her Master’s in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health while taking a gap year between her third and fourth years of medical school at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Born in South India and raised in Northern California, Chinmayee is deeply informed by her background in domestic violence advocacy and her commitment to obstetric justice, reproductive freedom, and health equity. With aspirations of becoming an OB/GYN, she is driven by the vision of creating a more inclusive and just future for birthing people.

Beyond her academic and research pursuits, Chinmayee is a creative writer, musician, and an active participant in community musical theatre. She finds great joy in storytelling—whether through words, music, or performance—believing in the power of the arts to inspire change and build community.
